Things To Do

Things to see and do in the local area.

The Medway Towns is full of rich heritage with a range of free festivals and events throughout the year making it a vibrant cultural centre.

Ideally located close to London it makes a good base for trips to the West End and London attractions whilst also being within easy reach of the channel ports.

Steeped in history the towns have their own stories to tell; Rochester has an iconic castle and cathedral and connections to Charles Dickens whilst Chatham has strong military and maritime heritage and defences. There is plenty for visitors to take in throughout the year with the Sweeps Festival (popular with Morris Dancers) and Christmas Dickens Festival with Christmas market and funfair. The Guildhall Museum and Restoration House are also worthy places to visit.

However if you're looking for something a bit more modern the Dockside Outlet offers many places to eat alongside the Odeon cinema and there is even a trampolining centre. Or you could take a pleasant walk along the Medway riverside overlooking Upnor Castle.

Medway hosts more than 30 days of free festivals and events each year from open air concerts, live theatre performances, bustling street festivals,to major international sporting events at Medway Park.
